Laura Rodriguez-Carbone Receives Endorsement from Cuyahoga County Progressive Caucus for Lakewood Ward 1 Council Race

June 30, 2019 - Lakewood, Ohio

Laura Rodriguez-Carbone, candidate for Lakewood City Council, Ward 1, today welcomed the endorsement from the Cuyahoga County Progressive Caucus (CCPC).

“Having the support of like minded individuals that stand for justice, inclusion, diversity and building a future that benefits all members of society means so much to me. I have been inspired by the work and dedication to community of many CCPC members and appreciate the support and opportunities that have been helped open the doors to further my commitment to public service. It is truly an honor,” said Rodriguez-Carbone.

The endorsement process included the participation in a public forum held at Lakewood Public Library on June 25th. “I was asked tonight what I believe are the three most important issues in our city,” said Rodriguez-Carbone. “First, we must make sure we meet the housing needs of our residents: this includes affordable and transitional housing for senior residents. Second, we must place an emphasis on public health through the reinstatement of Lakewood's own health department; Third, transparency must be in every part of our government. Elected officials need to be responsive to the people they represent in order to have a truly democratic government.”

Rodriguez-Carbone joins a slate of candidates endorsed by CCPC  in local races for this year’s November elections. She is the only candidate competing in a primary in Lakewood, which will be held on September 10th. “CCPC is very proud of our endorsement of Laura Rodriguez-Carbone,” says Steve Holecko, CCPC Political Director, “She truly embraces the progressive values our organization stands for.”
